How Kallie and Spencer Wright Are Coping Days After 3-Year-Old Son Levi's Death
View Date:2025-01-09 22:23:53
Rodeo star Spencer Wright and his wife Kallie Wright are weathering a tragedy.
Days after their 3-year-old son Levi Wright passed away from injuries sustained during a toy tractor accident, the couple are "trying to navigate what life is going to look like" following their devastating loss, according to a close family friend.
"They are very adamant about wanting to make sure that his name doesn't die," Mindy Sue Clark told People in an interview published June 5, "and that they can continue to carry things forward."
She said the family is considering starting a charitable foundation to continue Levi's legacy "once the dust settles as much as it can for losing a child."
"The reach that our little guy has had, I can't even put it into words," remarked Mindy, who grew up barrel racing with Levi's mom. "I have zero words for every day when we wake up and people are messaging us from New Zealand and Australia and then our friends in Uganda. It's crazy."
Noting how Levi's story has "made such an impact on millions of people," she continued. "It literally has been a movement."
According to the Beaver County Sheriff's Office, first responders responded on May 21 to a call about a child who drove their toy tractor into a Utah river. Authorities said life-saving measures we were "administered on the scene" before the child was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
On June 2, Kallie—who also shares daughter Steeley, 5, and son Brae, 9 months, with Spencer—shared that Levi was being taken off life support. He passed away the following day.
"After several sleepless nights, lots of research, multiple conversations with the world's best neurologists & millions of prayers we are here in the face of our biggest fear," she wrote on Facebook. "Levi showed us just enough to buy us time for all of this. We prayed those things were him defying odds & proving to us that he wanted to stay here but we see now he wanted to give us time to find peace with letting him go."
Describing Levi as a "thoughtful & considerate" child, Kallie added, "I find comfort in knowing he will be restored to the perfect little boy he was & have the ability to do all the things he loves! I know there are Angels up there waiting to hold him until I can again! We will miss him every second of every day down here but feel without unwavering doubt this is the best thing we can do for him!"

Kallie Wright shared a photo of son Levi—who was taken off life support in June 2024 following injuries sustained after he fell in a Utah river on a toy tractor—and daughter Steely alongside husband and rodeo star Spencer Wright in 2022 writing, "Snuck away to spend some time with Dad!!"
Kallie posted this photo of Levi with his face covered in chocolate in 2022, captioning the moment, "I can't not share this, he loves his ice cream!"
In February 2023, Levi and Steely helped their parents announce that there would be a baby boy joining their family. "We are so lucky!!" Kallie wrote at the time. "Thanks to my bestie Mindy Sue Clark for the fun reveal with the kids!"
Baby Brae was born in August 2023, Kallie shared on Facebook Aug. 2 writing, "Introducing Brae Milo Wright! Our hearts are so full!"
At the end of January, Kallie posted a photo of Levi and Steely posing in the field with their dogs.
As the family of a rodeo star, Levi and his siblings spent their fair share of time around horses, with Kallie posting this sweet image of her and Levi riding a horse together in March 2024.
During Levi's hospital stay, Kallie changed her Facebook profile photo to this sweet mother-son moment.
